This week was fun filled and exciting. My parents came to visit along with their pup Dakota. They arrived Tuesday night and just left yesterday morning (EARLY!). So what did we do in the lovely Savannah area you might ask? Lots!
Tuesday Night-
I cooked Faux Fried Catfish, Mac n' Cheese, & Sauteed Kale and it was an early night since they were driving all day.
Wednesday-
We enjoyed a nice long walk in Richmond Hill and went to a BBQ place on Whitemarsh Island! Yum! Wiley's CHAMPIONSHIP BBQ! That night we went to Shogun Japanese Restaurant and enjoyed the cooking styles of Hibachi!
Thursday-
We went to Jekyll Island and enjoyed the day in the water, eating lunch by the ocean, and at home we enjoyed a Hawaiian Chicken Dinner (thanks to the good ol' Crock Pot). That evening Brian & my Dad watched a movie while my mother and I went to BINGO. (She won, I didn't... sad day...).
Friday-
Today we ventured over to downtown Savannah. We walked along the river and enjoyed lunch at The Lady & Sons, which as many of you may/may not know is Paula Deen's restaurant! Although Paula must not have received my memo about being there we certainly had a lot of fun! Once we returned home mom & I went shopping at The Pink Closet (a GREAT consignment shop) that was having a 50% off the ENTIRE store sale! That night we made burgers and baked onion rings! YUMMY!
Saturday-
This was my parents last day here... we decided to take it easy. We hung around the house, we went to PetSmart with the pups and enjoyed dinner during an assumed monsoon at Fish Tales which is located on the Ogeechee River and had pretty good food!
Sunday-
Mom & Dad got up REALLY early and were on the road by 5AM. Brian and I went back to sleep and were awoken by a call for Brian to come into work ASAP. So we got up and started our day though we both longed to go back to bed.
So, that was the whirl wind trip of my parents. So now it will only be two short weeks until I am headed to Chicago for my Birthday week! So excited!
Between now & then I am planning on continuing to try new recipes, finishing my brother-in-law Steve's hat he asked for, and maybe starting another craft or two. So much fun!
P.S. TOTALLY forgot! This week I also made two batches of Meyer Lemon & Blueberry muffins. Both sets were healthy versions and YUMMY!
Life has been somewhat busy these past 2 weeks. Tomorrow the business will continue with the arrival of my parents & Dakota! I am super excited and looking forward to my Dad coming to see our house! On the schedule with them will be visiting Savannah, going on the Savannah food tour, and heading to Jekyll Island to take the pups to the beach!
Let's look back at the Goals I have set:
1. Loose weight & Workout more.
- I have been working out more and I feel better most of the time I do it.
2. Help the family budget.
- I have been working on our budget & we have had a few discussions on how to address our spending, saving, and stocks.
- Also Brian and I have begun looking at a new car for me and how to budget for that.
3. Crafting more.
- I have been working on crocheting a lot lately. I have made: baby hats, adult hats, fingerless gloves, and have to make a hat & beard for a brother-in-law
4. Brian's Birthday Party.
- I think I have found a place to have it, but I need to go visit it when I go home in March. I have also purchased a few things for the party and looked into cute table centerpieces.
5. Working on our Relationship.
- Brian and I have worked on our relationship through communicating more and really working on talking through arguments. Are we perfect? No... but we are working on it!
6. Commit to my Blog
- Epic fail... if it were not for my sister-in-law Heather I would probably never remember!
Here is to continue working on everything! WOOT WOOT!!
So, I forgot to post last week, so here I am this week. Since the last post I have really taken off in crocheting. I have made 3 baby-toddler hats, one set of fingerless gloves, and a beard prototype. Today's big plan is to make Brian a hat and possibly a detachable beard. Tomorrow will be a hat for my brother-in-law Steve with a detachable beard.
Today I also hope to go play BINGO (and hopefully win), I also hope to write up our meal plan for the next two weeks, write a grocery list, and take a nice long shower. (I think I have been coming down with a little cold... so the long shower will be nice!)
I am loving doing all of these crafts, I am feeling healthier, and I am really looking forward to my parents visiting in two weeks! (Which reminds me I have to clean the house at some point...)
More next time! :)
